Moon Landscape Exploration 

The highlight of the area is the fantastic otherworldly landscape. The "moon valley area" near Swakopmund is absolutely stunning and watching the sun set over the valley is an unmissable experience that will remain with you forever.

You can see for yourself why the exotic Welwitschia Mirabilis, a plant which can live to up to 2000 years old, has captured the imagination of desert explorers since the 18th century. Other accessible attractions include the Flintstone Caves and Weitzenberg Ruins.

Hiking & Mountaineering

If you like to hike, then Goanikontes Oasis is the perfect place to lace up your hiking boots and get on a trail. There are 3 hiking trails that will lead you to adventures in the lunar landscape that surrounds our rest camp.

Small Animal Zoo & Playpark

Goanikontes Oasis offers hours of fun and child-friendly activities. Our small petting zoo offers parents and children alike the opportunity to interact and meet our wide variety of animals. We also have a play park where children can burn off all their excess energy while you take a moment to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Natural Swimming Pool: Stranded, in the middle of the desert with nothing to do? Well, we have you covered, cool off in our natural swimming pool while enjoying the beautiful view that nature has to offer! *Pool only available to overnight guests*

Fishing

Do you want to show off your fishing skills at Goanikontes Oasis? Bring your family and come and enjoy delicious food and excellent company! Don’t forget to bring your fishing rod, bait, camping chair and umbrella. If you do not have a fishing rod, we have rods available for hire.

Obstacle Course

It comes as no surprise that obstacle courses provide a unique, exciting and, most importantly, fun way to exercise. Our obstacle course is the perfect school team building activity as you can engage in many different activities while having the peace of mind that the obstacle course is completely safe and secure. Our obstacle course is also located in a unique valley, providing you with beautiful surroundings while you are overcoming obstacles, literally!

Fat Biking

For those who prefer to use two wheels, there couldn’t be a better location for mountain biking. Hire one of our bikes and explore some of the superb rugged terrain that has lured thousands of trail riders over the years. We can recommend the best trails and are on hand to offer advice and assistance to cyclists of all experience levels.

Creatures of the Night

Goanikontes Oasis is not only home to a spectacular variety of birdlife, but also an abundance of bats. We are home to 3 types of bats namely, Zulu Serotine, Long-Tailed Serotine and Robert’s Flat-Headed Bat. This is the perfect experience for any night owl.

Birding

Namibia is also home to the endemic Dune Lark while the Namib desert offers birdwatchers the chance to tick off a few rare dry-country species off their list. With many near-endemic birds who call the desert landscapes home, birdwatchers will also have the opportunity to see the intra-African and Palaearctic migrants between September and April.
